Another Year / Bir Baska Yil
Dear all,
It's nearly Christmas. Last night I sat down and I thought I would send some cards (electronic and paper) out. And I did too. But halfway through the evening I came to the conclusion that I had neither the time nor the money to send all of my friends a Christmas or a New Year's card. I am extremely grateful that this is the case. So if you're one of the people who did not receive a card from me, or an e-mail, please know that you are appreciated all throughout the year. And I will make the effort to keep in touch with you not just at Xmas time but all year round.
I know Christmas is a time for happiness and jolliness and not-just-xmas-food-m&s-xmas-food
BUT
the world is suffering. A lot. We are running out of water and other resources at an immmense rate. People are fighting. The earth's powers are catching up with us. I am not even going to talk about global warming and the consequences of the climate change. It all seems beyond us but we know that WE all are responsible for it. Yes you too. And me. And everyone around us. I know that doing things are difficult. "Thinking about doing" or "wishing" is easier. But I hope we can take this time of year to "think" and the rest of the year "to do". "Do what?" I hear you ask. Do whatever you can. Read. Explore. Understand. Ask. Listen. Send. Give. Take. Care. Support.
I hope I haven't made your spirits sink (too deep) but I thought I had to use this blog to raise issues that I feel strongly about.

Take a deep breath,
and whereever you are,
have a Merry Christmas.

Sevgili Dostlarim,
Bu yil oturdum masanin basina, "kart gondermek lazim" dedim. Ancak aksamin yarisinda anladim ki tum dostlarima kart gondermek icin ne vaktim ne de butcem var. Bunun beni ne kadar sansli kildiginin farkindayim. Ve hepinizi yalnizca yilbasi/yilsonu/bayram/seyran degil, tum yil, tum gun, tum omur boyunca hatirliyor ve yanimda tasiyorum. 2008'de herkesle irtibat kurmaya daha fazla ozen gostermeye calisacagim.
"Yeni"ler yaklasirken, hepimiz suslenmis sokaklarda, taze kokulari takip ederek gunlerimizi geciriyoruz. Ve "yeni" kutlanmaya layik elbet.
Ama,
dunya garip bir donemden geciyor. Su tukeniyor, dunya isiniyor, soguyor, dovusuyor, yaniyor, kasirgalaniyor, kivraniyor. Bizlerse kucuk hayat kutularimiza biraz daha iteleniyor-kakalaniyor sigmaya calisiyoruz. Konusmuyoruz. Konusulanlari sevmiyoruz. Dinlemiyoruz. Ilgilenmiyoruz. Uzuluyoruz. Duruyoruz. Endiselerimiz kucuk kalsin istiyoruz. Buyuk endiselerimizi IPod'umuza koyup, calip oynuyoruz.
Bu yil biraz endiselenmek istiyorum. Buyuk endiselerim olsun istiyorum. Uzulmek kahrolmak istiyorum. Kucuk hayat kutuma sigmamak istiyorum.
Sonra, yeni yilda, biraz hareketlenmek istiyorum. Harekete itelenmek istiyorum.
"Yeni yil" ruhunuzu kararttiysam ozur diliyor, ancak icinde bulundugum noktaya biraz daha yakindan bakmanizi saglayabildiysem ne mutlu diyorum.
Yeni yilda hersey gonlunuzce olsun.
Saglik ve mutluluk dolu bir yil diliyorum.
