What's on Repeat?

This section features a song that I listen to obsessively.
As of April 10, the song is Son of A Preacher Man. Sung by various artists but this one in particular.

Lyrics of the week

...
These are the eyes that watched him as he walked away.
Color them grey.
This is the heart that thought he would always be true.
Color it blue.
...
This is the room I sleep in and walk in and weep in
And hide in that nobody sees,
Color it lonely, please.

This is the man,
The one I depended upon.
Color him gone.

Travel

Dear all,

I've been working in Carnoustie for the last few weeks.

Below is a short clip of what the seafront in Carnoustie looks like.
A beautiful place with lots of friendly people.

Silence

Dear all,
As always I'm a bit behind in updating. I don't even know whether anyone's following this blog anymore but just in case you are, yes I'm still on this planet.
Somehow, more and more, I'm looking for straight forwardness. As my "on repeat" song suggests, feel free to wave your "freak flag". But also, you don't have to be a freak to be yourself !

As Pinocchio suggests; "I'm wood , I'm good. Get used to it!"

Much Belated Update . . .

Dear all , below is the link for the photo album of a day of indoor climbing in Ratho. (on Saturday, September 5)

Edinburgh Indoor Climbing Arena is apparently world's largest indoor climbing centre.

I managed to complete a route on my first day, (thanks go to Graham and Kevin for encouragement and instruction) which was very exciting.

I thought I would just put this up to make sure that there is SOMETHING new on my blog.
There will soon be an update on the professional blog too so ...
watch this space....

What's on repeat?

I've been busy with many projects recently hence the belated update. I've also been contacted by a few people about not updating my blog which was encouraging.

I'm on my way to Turkey. I will bethere until late July. Please get in touch if you're around and want to meet up.

What's on repeat section is also updated. I don't know why, but sometimes I discover songs that've been around for years very late. This version of Noone but You has been on repeat recently. Also a few other songs which will appear later on I'm sure.

April Update

Dear all,
Apologies for no update but lately I've been busy with "A Drop In the Ocean"....

The Weakest Link / En Zayif Halka

This morning, I realized that the smell of freshly brewed coffee is one of the strongest links I have with life. It doesn't have to be in my house, it doesn't have to be my coffee. The fact that someone bothered to make coffee convinces me of the connection they have with their existence. Hence it convinces me of my connection to mine. And to put it in the words of Kander and Ebb (well mostly Ebb) "the trouble with the world today, it seems to me, is coffee in a cardboard cup!"

Tosca Inferno

Dear all,
On one level lots of things are happening in my life yet on another level nothing is happening. Hence the scarcity of updates. One thing, however, has taken over a good chunk of my life and that is Tosca, a piece that I've always been familiar with but never this intimately. I've been listening to it over and over again and everytime I find new levels of musicality and appreciation. On the clip to the right, you can find one of my favourite moments in the opera. I find that unsung parts of Tosca are as entrancing as the sung parts. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. This clip is the end of act 2 and it is from a live performance and it does not belong to me.
(If you want to get really geeky with me please pay extra attention to the passage that gets me everytime, starting at 6:42/6:43 in the clip)

When October goes. . .

"When October goes, the same old dream appears . . .
I should be over it now, I know.
It doesn't matter much how old I grow;
I hate to see October go."
