What's on Repeat?

This section features a song that I listen to obsessively.
As of April 10, the song is Son of A Preacher Man. Sung by various artists but this one in particular.

Serious Matter(s)

I came across this article today on The Guardian website. I can't help but thinking that we are on the brink of something scary yet something wonderful. Please read in full. I hope you will find it as fascinating as I did.

Outdoor Climbing

I went outdoor climbing on Sunday, October 2, 2011. I thought it would be a good idea to take Minelli-II on the train and meet up with my climbing friends and climb some rocks. Which was what I did.

The Sunday train service meant that I could only do a couple of routes and no leading but still it was worth it. Here is a mini clip made from the few photos I took. The weather was just about dry enought and Minelli-II kept up well up the hills of the Peak District. We had to go up a persistent hill for about 10k but we managed. Thank you Minelli-II.... Mindwalking

This year I've taken up aerial skills (static trapeze and silks) inspired by one of John Binnie's shows. John is a theatre director and writer and a good friend of mine.
I will be posting more about aerial skills later but in the meantime here is a new show directed by him and it includes aerial performances again. Click here for more information, tour dates and places. Click here for a review of the show.

A mini adventure

Here's a mini clip of a mini adventure featuring my new bike "Minelli - II". I cycled 26km and caught the sunset at Crosby Beach here in Liverpool.... Enjoy

Climbing

I am carrying on with climbing as part of my "be/live better" routine. It's good for the body and I think even better for the soul (especially as an actor). I regularly go to Awesome Walls Climbing Centre here in Liverpool. Check it out here. Better yet, come and join me sometime....

Climbing and Acting

I've recently been asked to write for a blog for a climbing centre. Here's the link to the post and the blog. I will be posting it here soon too but if you want to check out the Kilnworx blog first, here it is.... http://kilnworx.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/climbing-and-acting/

Blog Updates and Beyond

After 2 months of idlensess, I'm trying to revive my blog.
Thought I would follow on from where I left it: Running.

Since I last posted, I finished the Mersey Tunnel run in 49 minutes and 29 seconds and raised £215 for charity.
Then I carried on to run the London 10k in July alongside Margaret and Ed and 25.000 other people. I'm happy to say I ran a little faster than I did in Liverpool (by 11 seconds to be exact)...
Here are some photos from the London run.
I'll try and keep my posts short and frequent.

Running

Dear all, as you might already know I’ve taken up jogging and I’m running the Mersey Tunnel 10k on Sunday June 12. I’m sure you already know where this is going. Yes, I’m raising funds.

I wanted to raise funds for a local charity that provides shelter to homeless people. I want the money to sponsor rooms directly. (Roughly £12 sponsors a week!) I’ve had some difficulty locating one that would accept this kind of fundraising (one charity refused my offer outright, which I respect but find difficult to understand) but finally I’ve found 2. One is called “First Place” and provides shelter for homeless people with support needs. The other is a charity that wants to remain nameless but they also provide shelter for homeless people here in Liverpool.
I trained for over 60km in May and there are 12 days to go. I estimate that by June 11 I will have run over 80km in training.

I am paying for my race entry fee therefore ALL contributions will go directly to charity. You will also be notified of my training and my result in the run etc.

If you are interested, please send me an email with “Run Onur Run” in the subject line ...

Oh and come and cheer me on if you feel like it. I’m sure I’ll need it. The details of the run can be found on tunnel10k.runliverpool.org.uk.
Hope this message finds you well.
All the best,
Onur

10K Run and fundraising

Dear friends,

I am now signed up to run the 10k in Liverpool on Sunday June 12.

http://tunnel10k.runliverpool.org.uk/

It's not a charity run but I am aiming to raise funds for a local hostel.

I will be raising funds to give directly to a local hostel that helps people on the street. I am in the process of locating the hostel and the contacts but I thought I'd start the fundraising process. Once you agree to sponsor me, I will let you know of the details of where the money is going and when and how.

You can sponsor in 2 ways:

1. A minimum of £1 per km of my training. In May I've already trained 27 km.

I will then make a list of who's sponsoring how many kilometers of my training.

2. A set fee of £5 per km of the actual run. This should total up to £50.

The amount of individual donations will NOT be disclosed. However, I will anounce the grand total.

If you are interested

Please send me an email with "run onur run" in the subject title with :

The number of KMs you're sponsoring (training or race) and how much you'd like to donate PER KM.

Thank you.

Oh and if you're in liverpool, come and cheer me on. I will need it.
